It’s almost the end of 2018 so it’s time to reflect! I have to admit I didn’t really expect too much of 2018. It started with the awful news at work that there would be reorganizations with a job loss of 40%! So that wasn’t really something to look forward to. Luckily I had planned some trips already in late 2017 so I could focus on that. Somehow I managed to stay positive even though I went through a rollercoaster of emotions and I also learned a few more things. So I wanted to share with you how I got through 2018 making it a fantastic year and why I think 2019 will be even better! But be warned, this is a post where I am completely me and honest.
The Antwerp Pride is an event organized every Summer in Antwerp. The party event takes several days and consists of multiple activities. The main event everyone is always looking forward to the most is the parade. All organisations that are active in or support homosexuality, transgenderness, etc participate in the parade. Everyone puts on their finest clothes or costumes and is dancing happily around. This event is not just a party though. The most important thing about it is to create awareness.
After reading and watching the news lately, I’m getting so angry and disappointed. Deadly heat waves in China, extreme heat of over 48°C in Spain and Portugal, heat waves and drought in my own country Belgium, wildfires in California, Greece and even in Sweden… and let’s be honest, there’s only one who is responsible for all this: the human race. “I love traveling solo because I can do whatever I want, whenever I want.”, I said to one of my newest friends at the pub. “Yes, because you’re a loner”, he answered… That shocked me for a second, because the last thing I am is a loner. On the contrary, I am someone who always makes sure to plan something with friends every weekend. I don’t like being in solitude. So I immediately answered him back by saying that I am not and that there’s a difference between a loner and being independent. That made him think…

Skydiving at Skydive Spa was on my bucket list for a very long time, but for some reason I never actually planned to do it. Maybe because it scared me a little. But after becoming more adventurous by traveling solo, and being at home not having my next trip planned yet, ideas started popping up in my head.
