Where to find Game of Thrones filming locations in Dubrovnik

It’s not a secret Dubrovnik is an important filming location for Game of Thrones, one of the biggest TV series ever made. These days tourists from all over the world are coming to Dubrovnik, trying to find all the spots that were used as a decor for the series’ scenes. Many tour operators offer guided Game of Thrones tours, but if you do a little research, it’s quite easy to find these locations by yourself. At least that’s what I’ve done and it spared me a lot of money! These are the locations I found while wandering around Dubrovnik!

King's Landing Dubrovnik

St Dominic Street HBO

St Dominic Street

This must be one of the most beautiful streets in Dubrovnik. Here a lot of market scenes were filmed. (Season 2 Episode 5 The Ghost of Harrenhal)

Game of Thrones West Harbor Dubrovnik

West Harbor

This bay, where you have a view on the walls and Fort Lovrijenac, is used a lot in the series. This is the place where Sansa and Littlefinger discuss escape plans. Also the sea battle at Blackwater where Stannis Baratheon tries to attack King’s Landing is filmed here. It’s also easy to recognize in the scene of the massacre of Robert’s bastards.

Fort Lovrijenac

Fort Lovrijenac is used as the Red Keep at King’s Landing. The scene where Tyrion, Podrick and Bronn walk on the walls after the battle of Blackwater is also filmed here. (Season 3 Epidose 1 Valar Dohaeris).

Fort Bokar

Game of Thrones Fort bokar Dubrovnik

Fort Bokar

This fort is located next to the walls of Dubrovnik and is used in many shots, such as when Tyrion and Varys are looking out over the bay in “The Prince of Winterfell” (Season 2 Episode 8).

Game of Thrones Minceta Tower Dubrovnik

Minceta Tower

The Minceta Tower is the highest point of the old city center of Dubrovnik. This is the place where Daenerys tries to find the entrance to the House of the Undying (Season 2 Episode 10).

Game of Thrones Walk of Shame Dubrovnik

The staircase at the Jesuite Street

These stairs are probably becoming the most famous in the world ever since Cersei Lannister did her walk of shame there.
