The Best Chefchaouen Photo Locations: map with the most instagrammable places

Chefchaouen is definitely one of the most photogenic locations I’ve ever visited. Since a lot of people visit the Blue Pearl of Morocco only for a day and the medina can be a little confusing, I thougth it could be handy to share a map with the best Chefchaouen photo locations, so you don’t loose too much time looking for the Instafamous spots!

The Best Chefchaouen Photo Locations

1. Calle Sidi Buchuka

I loved this street. Not only because of the famous Instagram spot, but also because there are so many pretty doors and corners in this staircase alley. I was lucky my guesthouse was nearby, so I could take my photos early in the morning without anyone around. During the day you have to wait for your turn to take photos here! It gets very crowded because this little street ends on the main street!

2. Callejon El Asri, the most famous Chefchaouen photo spot

Another alley that ends on the main street a little further from Calle Sidi Buchuka is Callejon El Asri. This is the most famous Instagram street of Chefchaouen. The same applies to this street; be there early or you have to stand in line to take a photo!

3. Blue Street

I don’t know why this street is called “Blue Street” because there are hundreds of blue streets in Chefchaouen. But apparently this is THE Blue Street! If you don’t pay attention, you’ll probably just pass this tiny street. It is a side street of the street where you will find Said’s pretty orange juice stall. But in the morning the stall isn’t there yet. So just try to locate it with my map.

4. White Mosque

I found the contrast between the white minaret and the blue steps perfect to take a photo! You’ll find this spot in the same street as the Blue Street.

5. El Ouahabi House

If you don’t know where to look, you will never find this house with its famous yellow tiled stairs. It is hidden behind a corner in a dead end alley. The only recognition point in its surroundings is a fountain with red ornaments.

6. Place Haouta

This is one of the main squares of Chefchaouen. There are a few cafes and in the middle of the square you will find the Haouta fountain.

7. Paid Set

The previous six spots are all located in the western part of the Chefchaouen medina. The paid set is more in the East. It is located on the main street and you can’t really miss this. It is actually someone’s little patio and the owner had the smart idea to let tourists in for a small fee of 5 MAD to take photos. He really made an effort to add some extra decorations.

8. The Arch

A little further from the paid set, on your way to Ras el Maa, you will encounter the arch. This is just another cute photo spot.

9. The Three Doors

I call this spot “the three doors”. I don’t know if this is an Instagram famous spot, but I love it so much that I just have to mention it in this post. These three pretty doors are a little off the beaten track. I found them by accident. I took a random stairs up to leave the main street at the point where there was a small square. Just use the map and try to locate it!

10. Any street or door

There are countless photo spots in Chefchaouen. So I would be crazy to say that there are only 9 best Chefchaouen photo locations. My advice is to wander around the streets of Chefchaouen and don’t look at a map too often. Just get lost and if you wonder what is behind that little corner, go check! Because you might find another beautiful photo spot!
