Last weekend I decided to go on a day trip to Delft in the Netherlands. A colleague of mine lives there and showed me some pictures of it. It seemed like a cute town. So I asked my new friend who’s going to join me on my trip to Jordan if he wanted to come with me on a day out and off we went!
One day at Delft – Photo Diary
We parked the car near the Bieslandsekade where you don’t have to pay and entered Delft’s old city center via the Oostpoort. One of Delft’s original city gates. From there one we just wandered around the city’s streets along its cute canals and ended up at the Markt, the city’s main square where you can find the beautiful city hall and the Nieuwe Kerk ((New Church). There are a lot of cute shops and restaurants in its surrounding streets, where you can eat fresh fish and buy a LOT of chocolate. Don’t know why there was so much chocolate. This seemed odd to me, as a Belgian!
We had lunch at Lunchcafe Van 9 tot Zeven where we ate delicious sandwiches with salmon, tuna salad and a shrimp croquette.
Delft isn’t big but I’m sure it’s a vivid and lovely place to spend a day during the Summer. So if you are in the Netherlands, make sure to visit Delft. It’s way less crowded than Amsterdam and super charming!
