Day trip from Malaga: small town charm in Antequera

A day trip to Antequera is a must when staying in Malaga. Antequera is the biggest pueblo blanco in Spain, a typical Andalusian town build of white houses with red tile roofs and narrow streets. It’s located at the foot of the mountain range of El Torcal and perfect to explore after hiking there in the morning.

Day trip from Malaga: small town charm in Antequera

I parked my car on top of the hill near the Alcazaba. After having a delicious lunch at El Escribano, next to the Santa Maria church, I walked down to wander through the city center. Unfortunately I was there on a Sunday, so a lot of stores were closed. Antequera has an amazing shopping street. But the small streets are fun to wander around too, so that’s exactly what I did. On Sunday this town was dead, but really charming. I’m sure if you visit on a weekday it’s very vivid. I don’t have a lot to write about my town visit but here are some pictures to give you an idea of what the town looks like;

    Reading this post reminds me of my old room mate! He always kept talking about this.

    I will forward this write-up to him. Fairly
    certain he will have a good read. Many thanks for sharing!
